Folio 184: French reply to the British answer to the memorial from Francès about the incident in the Downs about the lowering of the pennant. The facts are restated. The only issue is whether the French ship was bound to lower her pennant. A previous case is cited from 1729, also a letter from Newcastle [f.188], which promised to cashier an officer, who took action similar to the captain of the Hawke. France demands equality and satisfaction for the insult.
