Folio 173: Walpole to Choiseul. In view of the misgivings of the Canada merchants, he asks for a clear assurance that reconnaissances, which are the property of British subjects, will always be kept distinct from those owned by French subjects and never be subject to the laws of France. The lists given to Châtelet make this distinction clear. Early payment by France would end the whole tiresome business.
Date and place: 1769 Nov 13 Paris.
