Folio 126: Article 11 of the general printed regulations and instructions relating to his majesty's service at sea, under the heading of salutes. All foreign and British ships are to strike their top sails and lower their flags to HM ships in British waters, which extend to cape Finisterre, and no British ships are to strike their flags to foreign ships in British waters. In other parts British ships are only to strike their flags, if the foreign ships strike first or at the same time.
