Folio 7: Walpole to Weymouth. Choiseul wished to avoid publication of a decree giving British proprietors of Canada reconnaissances an advantage lest the Parlement intervene. But the controller general said both French and British would be given the option not toconvert. Choiseul warned Britain against a written reply to the declaration about Corsica and argued the French case. Walpole believes he wishes to avoid ill-feeling towards Britain. The court leaves Compiègne on August 31st. Choiseul goes to Chanteloup on the 27th for a week.
