Folio 168: Walpole to Weymouth. All general officers have returned from Corsica except Marboeuf and Narbonne. The new vizier has been deposed. Details given of a loan for 30 million for immediate services, to be raised on life annuities. This is probably in place of the tax on the farmers general [f.76] opposed by the Parlement. He encloses f.173, also ff.175, 177 on which he comments. He wants Guinand to remain to help settle the Canada paper conversion issue. He asks for a second messenger.
