Folio 144: Walpole to Weymouth. Harcourt's appointment has been well received [f.149 enclosed]. The marquis de Bethisy, colonel of the Cambrésis regiment in Corsica has been shot, when the post he commanded was surrounded and 500 French taken prisoner. Turkish measures against Russia are welcomed but the Russians are likely to settle matters in one decisive battle. Prussia and Austria will not interfere. No subsidy treaty exists with Bavaria. The princes have competed in entertaining the king of Denmark. He encloses ff.151, 153 about an English sailor accused of theft at Quimper and refers to the case of the Resolution [f.80]. Encloses ff.155 to 161 about the Canada paper conversion.
