Folio 95: Interrogation of Samuel Wilson, second in command of the Resolution. He was engaged by the owner to engage the crew. The ship was already loaded, when he embarked and he did not know its contents. He was neither captain nor merchant but had more authority than the captain. He had had only vague verbal orders about his destination. He had never seen the machine before it was unloaded and knew nothing about insurance. He denied owning a share in the undertaking.
Date and place: 1768 Sept 11 Granville.
