Folio 69: Walpole to Shelburne. The Corsicans have driven the French back from Casinca towards San Fiorenzo. Chauvelin is blamed. The French are secretive about everything connected with Corsica. Details of reinforcements are included. France and Spain demand an archduchess for the duke of Parma. A letter has been delivered to the king from the archduchess, the future dauphine. With the new controller general there have been changes in the finance office and the royal treasury and reforms are contemplated. Choiseul spoke at length about France's desire for peace and her resolve not to have a general bankruptcy. Convents have been ordered to bring part of their corn to market. The court moves to Fontainebleau.
