Folio 47: Walpole to Shelburne. Choiseul proposed a meeting with himself, Praslin and the controller general to discuss the conversion of the Canada paper reconnaissances. He argued about Dunkirk and said Châtelet would be fully briefed on his return and that the Manila ransom was now between Britain and Spain. Breteuil, in the Netherlands, will settle the exchange of ministers with Prussia. The French choice is likely to be the marquis de Chastellux. No treaties for hiring troops from Germany have been negotiated. Vienna has told Rome it will not meddle in Modena's intended invasion [see f.14].
