Folio 43: Rochford to Shelburne. Choiseul had visited him. They discussed Corsica. Rochford cited Britain's pacific conduct on Turks islands. Choiseul referred to article 15 of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, misunderstood by Britain. France had maintained troops in Corsica since the treaty without protest. There was no comparison with Turks islands. Two engineers have been sent from Calais to go to Corsica, possibly to build fortifications.
Date and place: 1768 May 26 Paris.
