Folio 78: Shelburne to Rochford. He has informed Chatelet that the reports of guns on Turks islands are untrue. Since Britain has an undoubted right to them, she is not obliged to inform France about what goes on there but in fact Britain has no intention at present to install guns and has refused requests from Symmer [king's agent there]. Shelburne refers to the detaining of foreigners at French frontiers and ports [see f.65] and to d'Eon.
