Folio 53: Observations on the present situation of the work at Dunkirk, drawn up by Desmaretz and Frazer. Details are given of the sluice of Bergues, that of Kesleloot and of the jetties. If it were not for the health clause in the Treaty of Paris, all could be demolished under the treaty. The French are trading on this. Either the sluice of Bergues must be demolished or the extremities of the jetties next the sea. Otherwise the channel can easily fill up with water again.
Date and place: 1767 Aug 4 Dunkirk.
