Folio 314: Rochford to Shelburne. Encloses f.316. The king will call a lit de justice and issue lettres de jussion to all the Parlements in order to enforce the second vingtième. France continues to interfere in Corsica. The abbé Begliardi, French consul general inMadrid, continues to work for French trade - particularly woollen imports to Spain - and against British interests. Any tariff advantage to France would be contrary to the treaty of commerce between Britain and Spain. Begliardi is `the most intriguing genius' he has met with.
