Folio 299: Rochford to Shelburne. The clergy and the 3rd estate of Brittany voted in favour of the court but the nobles abstained. The king threatened the Parlement of Paris, if the edict establishing the second vingtième is not passed. Encloses f.301, which is reliable. the duc d'Ayen, son of the duc de Noailles, is assumed to be going to succeed Guerchy. Rival candidates are the comte de Châtelet and the marquis de Caustries.
