Folio 254: Rochford to Shelburne. In the case of Isaac Scott [see ff.234, 236], Choiseul asks for reciprocity in the case of a French bankrupt fled to England. On the announcement to the Parlement by the abbé Chauvelin that the Jesuits had been expelled from Spain,an immediate order is expected to expel those Jesuits, who remain in Paris, Brittany and Lorraine. The marquis d'Ossun, French ambassador in Madrid, has written a letter to the king of France, on the express orders of the king of Spain, stating that the Jesuits had instigated the insurrection of the previous year and plotted to exterminate the Spanish royal family.
