Folio 178: Desmaretz and Frazer to Shelburne. Sand has been blown into the harbour channel, so that two thirds of it are dry at low water. But there is no interference with the drainage of the back waters and the sand can easily be removed as long as the sluice at Bergues remains.
Date and place: 1767 Mar 20 Dunkirk.
