He encloses f.271 about the liquidation of the Canada papers, published without any word to him. Bouganville is setting out again for the Malouines islands, via Spain. The closing date for admission to the lottery is October 1st. The comte de Lauraguais and monsieur Villette have been in dispute and appeared before a tribunal of the marshals of France. Lauraguais is in the Bastille, Villette in the common prison at the abbaye St. Germain. Three encampments at Soissons consisted of three Swiss regiments, the garrison of Metz commanded by the marquis d'Armentieres, governor of the town and troops from Navarre. All three were inspected by the king at Compiègne. Their discipline is much improved. He asks permission to hand over to to Porten, to be secretary to Rochford, and to go to Aubigny before returning to England. The king will return to Compiègne.
