Folio 219: Lennox to Richmond. According to the Netherlands ambassador, the quarrel between Gallitzin and Choiseul arose from the frequent use, in error, of the words Impériale et Royale in letters from the king of France to the empress of Russia. Also Choiseul haddeciphered letters from Gallitzin, one of which was slighting to France and Choiseul. Gallitzin may be recalled [see f.189]. Choiseul has repeated his position about Geneva. Lennox refers to hardship suffered by British merchants in Marseille and to the ship Jove and the Ordinance of 1727.
Date and place: 1766 July 12 Paris.
