Folio 16: Lennox to Conway. The appointment of Choiseul to foreign affairs and Praslin to the marine will make no difference to French policies. The 4,000 troops destined for St. Domingo, Martinique and Guadeloupe are to be under the orders of monsieur de St. Victor. The troops already there will return to France. He discusses the arrangements for receiving payments of the Canada paper money from Laborde, the court banker. Lally, late commander-in-chief of French forces in the East Indies, has been brought to trial after 3 years in the Bastille. He is likely to be beheaded.
