Folio 47: Conway to Richmond. Encloses copy of f.53, a draft convention for the settlement of the Canada paper, sent by Guerchy for consideration by the committee of merchants. The king will never agree to the payment of interest to British subjects later than to French holders. Do the French really wish to break the treaty? His return to England is welcomed as soon as outstanding issues are settled. Choiseul's claim about Dunkirk is absurd [see f.23].
Date and place: 1766 Jan 24 St James'.
