Folio 229: Richmond to Conway. Reports on long detailed discussions with Praslin about the payment of the Canada paper money owed by France. He pressed the merchants' claim and encloses ff.236 to 244. The dauphin has died and business is at a standstill. Prussia will exchange ministers with France. Chauvelin is likely to be chosen by France. Praslin gave assurances about the young pretender's application to the pope. Encloses ff.246, 248. He acknowledges the new cipher. The death of the dauphin may strengthen the present ministry. In postscript he reports that the dauphin is alive but cannot live long.
