Folio 178: Richmond to Conway. He gives his private opinion on topics discussed in f.168. He believes that insistence on the demolition of the jetties at Dunkirk and the remains of the two forts to the level of the strand and of the sluices of Bergues and Furnes could damage the cleanliness of the air and the health of the inhabitants. Is it the intention only to prevent warships using the harbour or to block the port marchand completely? He thinks the French offer about the Canada bills is a good one and refers to the French reaction to Hume's memorial [about Newfoundland] and to ff.118, 127.
Date and place: 1765 Nov 30 Fontainebleau.
