Folio 82: Hertford to Halifax. Encloses f.91. This resolution of the Parlement of Paris has no greater authority than those of the other Parlements [see f.76]. Encloses ff.85, 87 about the apparently flagrant behaviour of Scott [see SP 78/265, f.306, also 266, f.1]. He discusses Choiseul's position at Court, preserved mainly by the indolence of the King. A new element is the possible malice of Madame d'Esparbesse, a protégée of Pompadour, banished from Court by the Duc de Choiseul. She is now back in favour with the King and has been invited to Marli.
