Folio 168: Memorial from the master of the French ship Henriette Victoire, detained and pillaged at Plymouth. The master and crew were kept prisoner on board from November 21st to February 2nd 1765, on minimum rations. At the second attempt he escaped to London. The explanation appeared to be a rumour of a French attempt to spy on the dockyards.
Date and place: 1765 Feb 5 London.
