Folio 148: Hertford to Halifax. Reports on talk with Praslin. He had recommended the recall of d'Estaing, but Praslin had called the reports about Turks island exaggerated. Praslin said France intended to pay for prisoners of war 15 million livres tournois as stated in Guerchy's memorial [see SP 78/262, f.186]. Guerchy would finalise the settlement. A detailed answer was needed about the Canada bills and he had not been provided with the information needed for this [see f.132]. Refers to a jesuit allowed into France, in connection with the estate of the Duchess of Douglas.
Date and place: 1764 Oct 3 Paris.
