Folio 200: Hertford to Halifax. There are some grounds for suspecting a French-Austrian treaty, partly because of the behaviour of Starhemberg, partly French suspicion of Britain. France wants peace. [See f.152]. He has taken upon himself to agree with Praslin the form of passports for British ships to the West Indies, because of its urgency. [Encloses ff.206, 208]. Pachalbel has again asked for help in obtaining satisfaction about Hessian artillery [see f.32], but he is unwilling to become involved. Parlement has ordered all bishops to reside in their dioceses and issued regulations about Jesuits. The King has ordered that all Jesuits are to be banished to their own dioceses. Pompadour is better.
