Folio 213: Bedford to Egremont. France still refuses to alternate with Portugal. Reports arguments by French and Spanish ministers about the treaty and objections. Encloses French and Spanish observations on several Articles of the British projet [ff.223 to 252]. They wish the Definitive Treaty to depart as little as possible from the Preliminaries and object to the titles of the Sovereigns in the preamble. Mentions several Articles, where the wording is criticised, also the Treaty of Commerce and the cession of Sumatra to the Dutch by d'Estaing.
