Folio 178: Stanley to [Pitt]. Choiseul considers St. Pierre inadequate and the conditions humiliating. He asks for Annamabou and Accra, if France cedes Senegal and Gorée. He had failed to agree on withdrawals in Germany, in particular Wesel. The remaining Articles were discussed [see ff.141, 145]. Choiseul asserted France's right to concern herself with disputes between Britain and Spain. Stanley had expressed astonishment at France's concern for Austria. Before breaking off negotiations, he asks for instructions. Spain is said to be about to declare war.
