Folio 123: Stanley to [Pitt]. Reports attack on Choiseul, supposedly by the Jesuits. Describes intimate talk with Choiseul, mentioning Dunkirk and the promotion to Minister of State of the Comte de Choiseul, who is succeeded as ambassador to Augsburg by the Comte d'Aubeterre. He comments on the personalities of these two. He submits that the sharpness of Pitt's language offends the King of France, whose disposition is the best hope for the peace negotiations. He relates how the Duchesse de Grammont was snubbed by the Dauphine and how the Duke retaliated.
