Folio 87: Pitt to Stanley. Britain will offer the island of St. Pierre as base for fishing, but he fears Choiseul may seek to let in Spain to the Newfoundland beds. He refers to the treaty of Utrecht, linking French fishing privileges with demolitions at Dunkirk. Encloses memorial signed by Mirepoix using just as strong language as complained of about Pitt. Encloses answer to f.6 [f.98], which is Britain's last word. She rejects France's Louisiana claims and quotes Mirepoix. If France rejects the main points - the fishery offer, the entire cession of Canada, the boundaries alongside the Carolines, the restitutions in Germany, the freedom to support allies - Stanley is to return home. Refers to limits of Canada as traced by Vaudreuil and encloses sketch and extract of letter from Amherst.
Date and place: 1761 Aug 27 Whitehall.
