Folio 85: Extracts from English Gazette, delivered by Bussy Aug. 26, letter from the Hague dated [Aug.] 14. In Paris the people want changes and the disgrace of some. The conduct of three officers at Willinghausen is being investigated in the Bastille. The Dauphinhas insisted on entry to the Council. He attacks intrigues. The fall of the Marquise [Pompadour] is near. From the London Chronicle: Paris expects changes among generals and ministers. If the Marquise escapes, she will revenge herself on the Dauphin and Broglie. D'Estrées would replace him. Conti has refused.
