Folio 124: Stanley to [Pitt]. He had raised Bussy's attitude with Choiseul, who claimed that Britain had refused to negotiate about any dates except that for signing a treaty. Encloses notification of surrender of Belle-Isle [f.128]. Choiseul says he will retake itat the first opportunity. The Duc d'Aiguillon had said its defences were adequate, inspite of warning by Ste. Croix. The ministers of Austria and Russia conferred with Choiseul. Russian troops have crossed the Vistula. Reference to armaments at Constantinople.
