Folio 238: Newcastle to Albemarle. He believes that Vergennes was acting on orders, when threatening the Electors. Lambertye is said to have made a declaration to Holdernesse on similar lines. Albemarle is to protest to St. Contest and to repeat (as detailed in this letter) British and French statements concerning the election, referring to SP 78/243/f.235. The King intends to proceed to the election, after the long delay. He encloses extracts from a letter from Yorke and from a letter to Keith and Hyndford, also copies of a paper from Wrede [see SP 78/243/f.374] and a letter from Burrish.
