Folio 173: Newcastle to Albemarle. Vergennes has suggested that the Empire (Empress Queen) cede the margraviate of Burgau to the Palatinate. On the death of the present Emperor, it should revert and the Palatinate receive Falkenstein in perpetuity. Newcastle rejects this. Compensation for Falkenstein should be in money. Refers to Prussian intrigues and to f.151. Is France trying to delay the election? Encloses letter for Keene.
