Folio 68: Albemarle to Newcastle. St. Contest does not accept the rôle of mediator for the King and only wishes for his `justice and equity' on Palatine claims. These must be settled before he instructs Hautefort to cooperate with Hyndford in an approach to the Empire. over the election of the King of the Romans. He had referred to Falkenstein, the marquisate of Burgau and Ortenau. He forecast grave consequences, if the election took place on a majority vote. Albemarle suspects Prussia, mentions Vergennes and Chavigny and encloses a letter from Keene [missing here] and naval intelligence [f.74].
