Folio 204: Albemarle to Holdernesse. He has protested at St. Contest's refusal to discuss America and Africa himself. St. Contest intends to print and publish the French memorial on Nova Scotia and Albemarle suggests Britain should follow suit. St. Germain reports French anxiety at the Spanish treaty. A new loan is to be raised. Bonnac is to be Ambassador to Holland. Ministers are trying to oust Argenson, hoping that his nephew will be more compliant [see f.137]. The King has threatened lettres de cachet over the issue of the Hôpital Général. The Court will not go into mourning for the Prince of Orange, unless notified by the King of England. He encloses a petition, backed by the Maltese ambassador [see ff.208 and 210].
