Folio 85: Albemarle to Bedford. The Duc de Chaulnes and the Marquis de Hautefort have been installed as Knights of the Holy Ghost. Argenson is likely to be replaced as Minister for War. Séchelles is thought to be of too low extraction to succeed him. Albemarle reports an insurrection against the Spaniards in Peru, put down after atrocities by the Indians. He thanks Bedford for sending him the King's speech to both Houses of Parliament and encloses copies of letters from Saxe to Argenson [f.88] and from the Bishop of Marseilles to the Controller General [f.92]. Madame de Pompadour is unwell.
