Description

Folio 309: Memorial to be presented to the French Commissaries, stating Britain's right to the entire province of Acadia or Nova Scotia, with proofs, and in accordance with f. 162.

Date and place: 1750 nd Whitehall.

Note
Enclosed in f. 299. Draft. This memorial is printed in full, in French and English, with numbered clauses in: Nova Scotia, Memorials of the English and French Commissaries, London, 1755. Apart from two alterations (clauses V - `western' for `westward' and XLII - `the same limits' for `the limits in the same words') and three corrections (clauses VI and XLIV - Louis XIV for Louis XIII - and clause LV - `1654 and 1655' for `1655'), the printed version is the same. In clause LXXIII, the date of the letter to Louis XIV and its reference have been filled in. The printed text is dated 11 Jan. 1751.
