Folio 96: Yorke to Newcastle. Referring to Northern Europe, disunity among ministers and unrest in Languedoc, stirred up by the clergy. Reports an aggressive sermon by the Bishop of Autun and an offer by de la Rochefoucald to pay a lump sum to the King instead of the Vingtième and having to render a return of revenues. The King had accepted and then retracted at the instance of the Controller General. The Dutch are nearer to concluding a treaty of commerce and he mentions Larrey Marselis and Trudaine. If Mirepoix returns to Britain, Madame may stay in France, because of her gambling losses in Britain.
