Folio 168: Yorke to Bedford. Enclosing copies of memorials mentioned in f. 166 [not now enclosed]. Maurepas claimed that the French were under orders to abide by the preliminaries to the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle but that Grenville had been provocative. He wanted all disputes in the West Indies and [North] America settled by Commissaries. Yorke had agreed subject to the status quo being restored. Finkenstein has arrived.
