Folio 243: Thompson to Newcastle. Hopes this dispatch will get through in view of Amelot's assurances, despite reports of continued detentions; report that Mathews achieved a complete victory; invasion expedition from Dunkirk appears to have been cancelled; rumour that French warships were ordered only to fire blanks at British vessels bearing a white mark, since these, [commanded by Jacobites], would do likewise; French ports warned to be on the alert in case of British attack.
