Folio 204: Thompson to Newcastle. Appalled that Newcastle did not receive the dispatch he sent on February 25th with the French answer to George II's Note due to the courier being stopped at Calais together with other Englishmen and prevented from crossing to England; has protested to Amelot and is sending this letter with a duplicate of f.188 by one of Van Hoey's couriers to Brussels; still no news of outcome of naval battle off Toulon; conflicting reports about whether a French expeditionary force is embarking at Dunkirk.
Date and place: 1744 Mar 4 Paris.
