Folio 193: Thompson to Newcastle. A relation of Lord Winchilsea, Cockayne, Chevalier, Comte de Hatley `bred at St.Germain' offers information about preparations by the Jacobites for a rising in Scotland and in the North of England led by Salkeld, based at York; Earl Mariscal and Louis Drummond coming to England, Thompson sends descriptions and portraits; he has been approached by [French] dissenters who offer to capture a coastal fortress to start a revolt in France if only Britain will send a small force to `kindle the flame'; Thompson remarks on increasing difficulty in obtaining credit and asks to be allowed to return to England.
