Folio 188: Thompson to Newcastle. Amelot gives Louis XV's reply to George II's Note. He will be prepared to fulfil treaty obligations regarding Charles Stuart when Britain complies with other treaty provisions and satisfies repeated French protests at infractions; Thompson took down the reply verbatim; Amelot refused to discuss the indications of a French force preparing to go to Britain; intelligence report that France is preparing an expeditionary force of over 15 battalions under Saxe assembling at Dunkirk presumably to invade Britain; Charles Stuart believed to be a Dunkirk and to have prepared manifestos against the Hanoverian regime; Philip V promises cessation of war when Charles regains the throne; French allege strong British support for him; Thompson suspects the project is a bluff.
