Folio 251: Thompson to Newcastle. Charles Albert has withdrawn his troops from serving alongside the French and has declared he will no longer `act in a hostile manner against the Queen of Hungary'; Broglie's army withdrawn over the Rhine, and Noailles' army is also returning to France presumably to take up defensive positions; new recruitment for the French army; Solars asked Thompson when the King of Sardinia could expect Britain to put pressure on Austria to conclude a satisfactory agreement with Sardinia, which might otherwise be tempted to join France and Spain.
