Folio 430: Thompson to Newcastle. Mme. de la Tournelle displaces her sister Mme. de Mailly as the King's favourite mistress, and the latter has had to leave the Court; Mme de la Tournelle has made various conditions and insists on being given the title of King's Mistress which carries a pension; she may also influence the King's choice of ministers.
