Folio 195: Advice from Toulon. British warships chased and surrounded a small squadron of French ships. When the French refused to disclose their destination they were attacked, but successfully beat off the British although outnumbered; a British officer under flag of truce then apologised for the attack, advancing the excuse that the French were formerly suspected of being Spaniards.
