Folio 131: Thompson to Newcastle. D'Antin is bitterly critised for having anchored in a bay contrary to his orders, which were to patrol between Jamaica and Cartagena, and thus exposed his crew to tropical maladies. Maria Theresa has given birth to a son and this should strengthen her husbands' chance of being elected Emperor; Thompson believes the Elector of Saxony should be warned that France does not genuinely support his candidature but in fact wishes the Elector of Bavaria to become Emperor; King of Prussia continues his conquest of Silesia implying he has the concurrence of Russia; the Austrian ambassador avers that Russia may intervene on Austria's side.
