Folio 220: Newcastle to Waldegrave. The Spanish ambassador protested against the British decision to grant letters of reprisal to British merchants who allege suffering losses by the Spaniards in the West Indies, asks Waldegrave to investigate; reports of an impending commercial agreement between France and the Austrian Netherlands under which Austria would allow France certain advantages, and also why so many troops have been assembled at Gravelines.
