Folio 174: Waldegrave to Newcastle. Walpole attends conference with Fleury; British express wish to be fully informed of provisions or proposed Treaty of Vienna (1738); Fénelon's insistence on precedence discussed; Britain advocates diplomatic persuasion to settle the Berg and Jülich dispute rather than threats which could provoke a Prussian attack; Britain and Holland wish to keep Prussia out of East Friesland; France and Austria have signed a Treaty to regard Corsica as belonging to Genoa; France may lend troops to repress rebels on the island; Fleury worried that Austria may overrun a large part of the Turkish dominions; this would damage French and British trade.
